Super Bowl Ads and the Absence of a Bubble

Why do people like to watch Super Bowl ads when they take every other opportunity to skip them? Are they simply too sluggish from all the beer and junk food that they've consumed, or is it something as sophisticated as permission marketing?

Regardless, you can watch some of 2007's Super Bowl ads right now. iFilm has a few of them up right now with more scheduled as the ads finally air. An archive of commercials going back to 2002 is also available. Yahoo Video is also planning to post the ads once the game begins.

In addition: six fledgling Web 2.0 startups (Meebo, Technorati, RockYou, Plaxo, Multiply, and Meez) that couldn't afford the $2.5 million for a 30 second spot have put up their "Super Bowl" ads up on YouTube. If ever there was a sign that a new bubble hasn't yet inflated, this would be a good one.

Right now, it's looking like the GoDaddy: Basic Instinct ad is getting some good traffic. It features the "GoDaddy girl". Watch below:
