Playble: The Pirate Bay's Answer to Free Music

The Pirate Bay has announced a new site called Playble that will let users download music for free and still compensate the artists. Details are a little sketchy, but a Swedish band called Lamont has partnered with The Pirate Bay in the effort. You can sign up for a newsletter to be informed the moment the service goes live.

How Playble will find a way to pay artists is unclear, but presumable some sort of advertising split will be involved. A similar service called We7 intends to sell 10-second ads before each MP3 in exchange for free downloads.
